The city of Chicago is divided into four main sections, the Downtown, North Side, South Side and West Side.
The Downtown area is the cities commercial area. Which is rich in cultural, commercial and financial businesses. Although it may sound, like quite a business orientated area, this area of the city is kept with both business in mind as well as the well being of the population. There are many things to do and see in the area, and it is flocked to by tourists who enjoy some of the great sights and things to do. Great entertainment venues, delicious ethnic restaurants, fantastic displays of architectural design between old, new and futuristic make this area of Chicago really stand out, and the cleanliness of the area is surprizing given the fact that this is a large metropolitian area. Listed above are just a few of the many wonderful past time enjoyment opportunities in the area.
The North Side has undergone some benficial changes in the past years, giving it a large economical boost. There area has the one of the largest selections of art galleries in the nation and is only second to Manhattan of New York. The entertainment hub, residential and commercial venues in this area are very active in creating a prime atmosphere that draws visitors as well as residents of the city to the area, to enjoy and reap the rewards of transitioning a warehouse district into an area they can all enjoy. They continue to move forward in updating this area of the city, replacing the old and out dated with the new and exciting.
The South side is the largest section of the city in term of land. This part of the city has allot of single family homes, as well as the cities industrial business. It also is home of two fo Chicago's biggest parks. Jackson Park and Hyde Park.
The West Side contains the majority of the neighborhoods some which are going through gentrification and some that are having problems with urban decay and crime. This area of town would contain the largest portions of the community area in respect to identifiable neighborhood association.
As with most large cities there are struggles in some of the community areas with crime and gang activities, each city, with Chicago being no different works to try to eliminate allot of this negative activity by providing better education programs, which Chicago does a tremendous job of and creating more jobs within the city.
